- Standard lot is perhaps the most common type of contract on the Forex market and among brokers. Mini lot is called fractional, it is equal to 1/10 of the standard lot size. It’s much less used than the standard lot.

Silver:
Standard Lot:
When trading 1 full sized lot on silver, I.e. Volume = 1.00 you are buying 5000 ounces of silver on margin. So your margin held will be 1% of the total price of silver, multiplied by 5000. For example, if silver is trading at 38.000, multiply 38.000 by 5000 and then divide by 100 to get your 1% margin. You would be using $1900 USD in Margin, and your profit and loss will be $50 USD per 2nd decimal point movement.
I.e. If silver is at 37.825 and moves to 37.835 and you are long, you will have made $50 USD.
Or if Silver is at 37.825 and moves to 37.865 and your are long, you would of made $200 USD.
Or if Silver is at 37.950 and moves to 37.970 and your are long, you would of made $100 USD
Mini Lot:
When trading 1 mini lot, I.e. Volume = 0.10 you are buying 500 ounces of silver on margin. So your margin held will be 1% of the total price of silver, multiplied by 500. For example, if silver is trading at 38.000, multiply 38.000 by 500 and then divide by 100 to get your 1% margin. You would be using $190 USD in Margin, and your profit and loss will be $5 USD per 2nd decimal point movement.
I.e. If silver is at 37.825 and moves to 37.835 and you are long, you will have made $5 USD.
Or if Silver is at 37.825 and moves to 37.865 and your are long, you would of made $20 USD.
Or if Silver is at 37.950 and moves to 37.970 and your are long, you would of made $10 USD
Micro Lot:
When trading 1 micro lot, I.e. Volume = 0.010.
you are buying 50 ounces of silver on margin. So your margin held will be 1% of the total price of silver, multiplied by 50. For example, if silver is trading at 38.000, multiply 38.000 by 50 and then divide by 100 to get your 1% margin. You would be using $19 USD in Margin, and your profit and loss will be 50c USD per 2nd decimal point movement.
I.e. If silver is at 37.000 and moves to 37.001 and you are long, you will have made 5c USD.
Or if Silver is at 37.825 and moves to 37.865 and your are long, you would of made $2 USD.
Or if Silver is at 37.950 and moves to 37.970 and your are long, you would of made $1 USD
Gold:
Standard Lot:
When trading 1 full sized lot of gold, I.e. Volume = 1.00, you are buying 100 ounces of gold on margin. The margin held will be the price of gold in USD when the contract is bought. For every point movement, you will make $1.
I.e. If Gold is 1535.00 and moves to 1535.05 and you are long, you will make $5 USD.
Or if Gold is at 1527.10 and moves to 1527.50 and your are long, you will make $40 USD.
Mini Lot:
When trading 1 full sized lot of gold, I.e. Volume = 0.10 you are buying 10 ounces of gold on margin. The margin held will be the price of gold in USD when the contract is bought. For every point movement, you will make 10c
I.e. If Gold is 1535.00 and moves to 1535.05 and you are long, you will make 50c USD.
Or if Gold is at 1527.10 and moves to 1527.50 and your are long, you will make $4 USD.

When trading 1 full sized lot of Oil, I.e. Volume = 1.00, you are trading 1000 barrels of oil on margin. The margin held will be $1000 USD. For every cent movement, you will make $10.
I.e. If Oil is at 101.90 and moves to 101.99 and you are long, you would of made $90 USD.

When trading 1 mini sized lot of Oil, I.e. Volume = 0.10, you are trading 100 barrels of oil on margin. The margin held will be $100 USD. For every cent movement, you will make $1.
I.e. If Oil is at 101.90 and moves to 101.99 and you are long, you would of made $9 USD.
Micro Lot:
When trading 1 micro sized lot of Oil, I.e. Volume = 0.01, you are trading 10 barrels of oil on margin. The margin held will be $10 USD. For every cent movement, you will make $0.10.
I.e. If Oil is at 101.90 and moves to 101.99 and you are long, you would of made $0.90 USD.
